Music I listen to

I listen to everything: Bluegrass and Traditional, Americana, Jazz and Swing, Classical. Some of my favorites are Mitch Barrett, Bob Comtois, Richard Gilewitz and Leo Kottke, Eva Cassidy, Rev. Gary Davis, Emmy Lou, Bach and Beethoven. My personal music is Americana, folk and traditional. I'm a fingerstyle guitarist with a leaning toward delta style. I also play mandolin and provide lead and harmony vocals in a Louisville based Bluegrass band.

Interesting facts about me

I am a visual artist and lifelong musician. I play guitar and mandolin now but was a classically trained oboist for many years. My artistic media of choice is generally photography. I am a Unitarian Universalist. We are a non-dogmatic faith tradition that empasizes that what is important is how we treat each other and how we live our lives in the here and now rather than the promise of salvation and an eternal life.     I don't have anything recorded at all. I tend to play Piedmont blues and ragtime stuff the most. In the past couple of years I have just started to get into more of the Delta and slide stuff. Just a beginner at slide for sure.

    I am pretty computer illiterate so about the best I do is use it for work and listening to different stuff at home. One of my goals for the future is to get to record something. I just bought Band in a Box and the new version allows you to record over what you have written. So maybe in the future I will have something.

    How about you? Anything recorded?

    Nothing recorded yet. I'm a late bloomer- been playing all by myself where no one even heard me for decades. I just got myself a Zoom H4 recorder so I can hear what I'm doing really sounds like. If I come up with anything worth putting out there for others to hear, I will. mandogal
